2026 Reports
Q1 ’26 Report
In Q1 2026, OCIF announced one investment totalling $1.5 million into Mount Royal University to establish the Alberta Logistics Centre of Excellence — strengthening Calgary and Alberta’s transportation and logistics sector.
2025 Reports
Q1 ’25 Report
OCIF announced two investments totalling $3.2 million in Lufthansa Technik Canada and QAI Ventures, aiming to cement Calgary’s position as an emerging hub for aerospace innovation and accelerate the development of quantum talent and local startups.
Q2 ’25 Report
OCIF announced investments in XPRIZE Canada and the OCIF Express funding stream to help support Calgary’s goal to become the innovation capital of Canada and enable local companies to grow and create new opportunities for Calgarians. Additionally, Calgary City Council approved a $60 million reinvestment into OCIF over the next four years.
Q3 ’25 Report
OCIF announced two investments totalling $1.8 million in ETC Foundation and The Knowledge Society to reinforce Calgary’s position as the energy capital of Canada and to enhance Calgary’s quantum and AI innovation pipeline. We also began delivering on a Government of Alberta supported project to strengthen Calgary’s position as a centre for research, training and aerospace innovation.

OCIF announced two investments totalling $3.75 million into the Xpand Commercialization Hub by ConvergX and AgSphere to accelerate dual-use technologies in Calgary and advance Canada’s agricultural competitiveness.

Q1 ’24 Report
OCIF announced two investments totalling $4.1 million into The Knowledge Society and the Aerospace Innovation Hub, that will reduce financial barriers for future-focused youth learning opportunities and will advance groundbreaking solutions in the aerospace sector in Calgary respectively.
Q2 ’24 Report
OCIF announced an investment to Platform Calgary to develop its National Bank Investor Hub to connect investors and founders together for early-stage, Calgary-based startups. OCIF invested up to $400,000 over 28 months to this project.
Q3 ’24 Report
OCIF announced one investment this quarter to Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (SAIT) Alternative Construction Technologies (ACT) Hub to accelerate the development of new construction and manufacturing materials and processes.

OCIF announced two investments—TECHNATION and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology’s (SAIT) Aerospace Composite Materials Lab (ACML)—that will strengthen Calgary's tech talent pipeline for under-represented groups and will advance our aerospace sector's capabilities.

Q1 ’23 Report
OCIF and CED, in partnership with Platform Calgary and The City of Calgary, commissioned an Innovation District scoping study to explore how to further unlock innovation in the city for people and ideas to converge and spark creative collisions. Key findings will be shared in Q2 with community partners.

OCIF celebrated its fifth anniversary during Calgary Economic Development’s Report to Community event. Building on our success to date, OCIF continues to focus on emerging key sectors, talent development and the growth of a community underpinned by innovation.

OCIF evolves to find opportunities with the highest impact on Calgary’s economic future. We launched the OCIF Eligibility Portal to expedite connecting with companies and organizations best suited to spur development and diversification in Calgary.

OCIF announced an investment in Bow Valley College for $5.5M to develop the Calgary Entertainment Arts Production Hub (CEAPH), which will be a world-class facility and creative arts ecosystem that will grow careers and companies in the creative industries, creating opportunities for equity-deserving groups and catalyzing economic growth.
